Animal Services

The Town of Latchford is committed to promoting responsible pet ownership and ensuring the safety and well‑being of both residents and animals within the community. Our animal services include licensing, bylaw enforcement, and support for lost or stray pets.

All dogs within the Town must be licensed annually. Licensing helps:

  • Identify lost pets and return them to their owners

  • Support animal control services

  • Ensure compliance with municipal bylaws

Licenses can be obtained through the Town Office. Please contact us for current fees and requirements.

The Town provides animal control services to address:

  • Stray or lost dogs

  • Dogs running at large

  • Aggressive animal concerns

  • By-law violations related to pets

If you encounter an animal control issue, please contact the Town Office during regular hours. For urgent matters, after‑hours contact the OPP in New Liskeard by calling the non-emergency line.

Residents can help keep Latchford safe and enjoyable by:

  • Keeping pets leashed when off private property

  • Cleaning up after pets in all public spaces

  • Ensuring pets are properly vaccinated

  • Preventing excessive barking or disturbances

  • Licensing dogs annually

Latchford’s natural setting means residents may occasionally encounter wildlife. For non‑emergency wildlife concerns, please contact the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF).
