Water and Wastewater Services

The Town of Latchford’s drinking water system is monitored and tested regularly to ensure it meets or exceeds the standards set out in the Ontario Safe Drinking Water Act. Routine sampling, maintenance, and inspections help ensure that residents receive clean, safe water every day.

Our responsibilities include:

• Operation and maintenance of the municipal water treatment and distribution system

• Regular water quality testing and reporting

• Hydrant maintenance and flushing

• Responding to service disruptions or water quality concerns

The Town manages the wastewater collection system, ensuring that sewage is safely transported and treated in accordance with environmental regulations. Proper wastewater management protects local waterways, public health, and the natural environment.

Services include:

• Maintenance of sewer mains and infrastructure

• Monitoring system performance

• Responding to blockages, backups, or system issues

• Ensuring compliance with provincial environmental standards

Water and wastewater services are billed by the Town on through the Property Tax Bills. Rates are set by Council and help cover the cost of system operation, maintenance, and long‑term infrastructure needs.

If you have questions about your bill, account changes, or payment options, please contact the Town Office.

From time to time, the Town may issue notices related to:

• Planned water service interruptions

• System maintenance or hydrant flushing

• Boil water advisories (if required)

• Infrastructure upgrades or repairs

Updates will be posted on the Town’s website and social media channels.

Residents can help protect the system by:

• Avoiding flushing wipes, grease, or other materials that cause blockages

• Ensuring sump pumps and weeping tiles are not connected to the sanitary sewer

• Reporting leaks, unusual water pressure, or sewer odours promptly
