Building Permits (TMSA)

The Town of Latchford partners with the Temiskaming Municipal Services Association (TMSA) to provide building permit and inspection services. TMSA ensures that all construction within the Town meets the standards of the Ontario Building Code, local bylaws, and applicable safety regulations.

A building permit is required for most construction projects, including:

New homes, cottages, garages, and additions
Structural changes or renovations
Decks, porches, and accessory buildings
Plumbing alterations
Demolition of structures

If you are unsure whether your project requires a permit, please contact the Town Office — we’re happy to help.

Building permit applications are processed through TMSA.

Applicants must submit:

A completed permit application form
Construction drawings or plans
Site plan showing setbacks and property boundaries
Any additional documents required by TMSA or the Town

Once submitted, TMSA will review your application, issue permits, and conduct inspections throughout the construction process.

Building permits help ensure:

Your project is safe and structurally sound
Work complies with the Ontario Building Code
Proper setbacks and zoning requirements are met
Future property sales or insurance claims are not affected
