Mayor Sharon Gadoury-East has lived in Latchford since April 2014. Mayor Gadoury-East was appointed to council in 2017 as a Councillor. She served as a Councillor until November 2022 when she was elected Mayor.
Councillor Newell moved to Latchford in 2001. After completing her diploma in Social Services Worker at Northern College in 1999, she started working with a local agency that supports individuals who have an Intellectual Disability. She also became a labour activist and has been Union president for approximately 18 years.
Councillor Newell first joined Council as a Councillor in March 2022 and then won a seat on Council during the 2022 Election.
Councillor Cartner has lived in Latchford since September 2006. Councillor Cartner is now in her fourth consecutive term on Council.
Councillor Cartner is a Business Administration graduate, and has worked throughout her business career in areas of retail operations and loss prevention, account management, human resources, and customer service.
Councillor Olson
Councillor Cole was born in Kirkland Lake and has lived his entire life in the north.
Councillor Cole and his wife now call Latchford their permanent home since 2019 after seasonal living in Latchford for the past 23 years. Councillor Cole has worked in the healthcare sector and mental health profession mostly in a management position for the past 33 years. A graduate of Canadore College, Nipissing University and McMaster University.
Councillor Church has lived in Latchford since July 2021 and was raised in Cobalt. She raised her 2 daughters in North Cobalt and has deep roots in the area.
Councillor Church graduated with a Business Administration-Accounting Diploma in 1996 and worked in many retail and business operations before pursuing her dream of nursing. In 2006 she graduated as a Practical Registered Nurse and has been employed at Temiskaming Hospital ever since. She currently is working as a Clinical Behavior Response Specialist with Behavior Supports Ontario and is passionate about advocating and supporting our geriatric population and providing education to staff.
Councillor Church has been a union activist for over 15 year and is currently serving as President of her CUPE Local and sits on the bargaining committee. She has held many positions such as RPN Rep, Trustee, Recording Secretary and Vice President over the years.
Councillor McDonald was born and raised in Toronto. In 1991 she moved to Latchford, and has called it home since. Raising a family here, her roots are planted deep and Latchford will always be home. She is employed and works from home for the Energy Savings Board of Ontario.
Councillor McDonald was previously on council from 2014-2018, and decided to run for Council again during the 2022 Election.
